At Wright Activities, our canyoning outdoor adventure take place amidst the breathtaking landscapes and stunning views of waterfall country in the Brecon Beacons' South Wales. Here, nature's wonders provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable experience. Depending on the skill levels and preferences of the group, we offer excursions along two different rivers, ensuring that each outing is tailored to meet the specific needs and abilities of our participants.
To provide you with the best possible experience, we will determine and confirm the precise river location over email when you make your booking. How long is the session?
The session lasts for 4 hours in total. This duration encompasses the time spent meeting with the instructor, changing into appropriate gear, and receiving a safety briefing. Participants can expect to spend a minimum of 3 hours actively engaged in the canyon outdoor adventure experience.

What do you need to bring?

Shoes: Old trainers are ideal, but we also offer wetsuit boots for £25 a pair if needed.

Our rappelling canyoning adventure is a fun experience and takes place in the river Mellte - this is where some of the best waterfalls are in South Wales. If you are looking for a slightly easier adventure but also a very fun experience with the family and kids, try our gorge walking adventure in the river Sychryd.
Is canyoning suitable for families?
canyoning is one of our more difficult activities and we have a age limit of 14 to be in out canyon. if you are looking for a first canyoning experience in wales i would recommend our gorge walking adventure, this is an easier route we can take you on and suitable for families with kids starting at 8 years old. We climb, slide, jump, swim and challenge the whole family.

We have 2 guided tours of the canyon every day starting at 10.30 and 2.30pm.
How much hiking trekking and swimming is involved?
The canyon activity is 4 hours. There is not much hiking and trekking to do as its a 5km circular route, most of the water in waist deep so this doesn't require much swimming.
What skills do you need to do canyoning in the UK?
Canyoning in the Uk is very different to canyoning in europe. We rely on rain water to make the canyons, unlike in Europe and Scotland where many canyons are snow melt, also as they have in the alps. This mean the skills you need are slightly less and you can enjoy a bigger, amazing fun experience in the best canyons in wales.
